Visit this extraordinary Korean-Parisian Bistro on College Street, called Gateau Ghost!

Address: 974 College St, Toronto, ON M6H 1A5 Canada

(Cost is roughly $20-$40 per person)

Jayden Park, the owner of this establishment, has recently introduced his dinner menu. His goal is to use fresh Korean ingredients with French bistro classics. This allows for the fresh Korean ingredients to blend beautifully with the rich French menu items.

Gateau Ghost was originally started as a delivery-only pastry shop during COVID-19. The owner, Jayden Park first got his name out of there by selling his madeleines online. Once he opened an in-person location after COVID, his hype from his online business allowed him to now expand his menu.

This menu item listed is the miso roasted cabbage. This cabbage is steeped in a salt-sugar brine for 12 hours, roasted in the oven, and then topped with a beurre noisette (French browned butter used to compliment savoury foods). The fresh cabbage compliments the savoury, rich browned butter beautifully. This dish costs $19.

This menu item listed is their smoked kimchi arancini. These fried balls are made of equal parts rice and kimchi, stuffed with peas and mozzarella cheese, and are served with a side of scallion aioli.

As well as delicious savoury menu items, the restaurant boasts delicious pastries, the item Park originally benefitted from.

Pictured here is Park glazing his madeleines. He showcases his classic French-Korean fusion by creating this classic French dessert with Korean pans. These Korean pans are larger than French ones, which allows for a more moist madeleine. As well, his famous madeleines come in matcha pistachio, chocolate, black sesame, and more flavours.

As you can see, Gateau Ghost is a restaurant that is absolutely worth visiting during your time in Toronto. Its blend of French and Korean cuisine will surely blow you away.

  1. Your review of Gateau Ghost makes me want to visit it immediately. The way you described the mix of French and Korean cuisine is really interesting, especially how Jayden Park combines classic French techniques with fresh Korean ingredients. and also miso roasted cabbage and smoked kimchi arancini both sound delicious. Did you get a chance to try any of the pastries? I’d love to know which one you recommend the most.
